Watch the NHL on your mobile phone

Watch the NHL on your mobile phone and get access to live games every day, plus follow the entire season.

Some people love football, others are passionate about basketball… but me? I surrendered to the ice, to the sound of the puck hitting the post, to the intense disputes that only the NHL (National Hockey League) can provide.

It wasn't love at first sight, I confess. I started watching hockey games because of the influence of a good Canadian friend, Daniel.

We met during an exchange program in Germany, and he always wore a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey.

One day he invited me to watch a game and from then on everything went downhill (or rather: sliding on the ice!).

But then a problem arose: how can I watch NHL games while living in Brazil?

Television isn't always on, the schedules are crazy, and you can't stay glued to a TV all the time. The solution?

Official and reliable apps on my phone that still save me today!

If you too want to delve into this incredible world of ice hockey, check out my app tips to watch the NHL wherever and whenever you want:

NHL App (Official)

This is the league's official app, and really? It's my favorite.

In addition to showing live matches, it has news, videos, real-time statistics, interviews, and even radio broadcasts of the matches (for when the internet is weak, you know?).

The only thing worth mentioning is that some content is paid, such as full live streams of games. But for those who love hockey, it's worth a subscription.

I made the annual plan and split it with two friends. It's worth every penny.

    ESPN App

Good old ESPN always saves the day. I already used the app for the NBA and UFC, but then I discovered it also streams NHL games (especially playoffs and high-profile games).

For those with a cable TV plan that includes ESPN, simply log in and watch on your phone without any issues.

The streaming quality is excellent, and you can even see the moves and stats within the app.

      Star+

If you like ESPN, you'll love Star+. This app brings together everything from ESPN (including NHL games) with movies and series from Disney, Star, and other channels.

I subscribed for the sports and ended up staying for the extra content. The great thing is that you can watch the games live and on demand, which means if you missed the game the night before, you can watch it the next day over coffee (personal experience, lol).

        YouTube (yes, that's right!)

It's not for live games (at least not officially), but YouTube has some amazing recaps, highlights, and tactical analysis.

There's a foreign channel called "NHL" (official league channel) and another one I love, called "Post2Post," where they do analysis with a Canadian accent, which is almost like auditory therapy.

Sling TV / FuboTV / Hulu + Live TV (for those who want more comprehensive options)

These apps are most common in the US, but if you use a VPN or live abroad, they're great options.

They offer channels like ESPN, NBC Sports, and TNT, all of which have broadcast rights to the NHL.

I tried FuboTV with a VPN for a while, and it was amazing. The quality is amazing, and you can even record games!

            My most memorable moment?

It was when the Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup and I was able to watch the entire final on my cell phone, sitting on the living room couch with my kids on my lap.

They didn't understand anything about the game, but they cheered me on every time I scored a goal. One of those simple moments that lasts forever.

If you're a hockey fan (or want to discover an exciting sport), having the right apps on your phone makes all the difference.

The NHL has a unique vibe, with intensity, technique, and excitement in every second.

Download the apps, add your favorite team to your favorites, and prepare your heart: because the ice may be cold, but the excitement of hockey is enough to make your blood boil!
