Brazil has an incredible and important Brazilian Social Assistance Program for the Purchase of School Supplies, find out now.

This social program helps Brazilian families, especially low-income ones, who cannot afford these costs.

The goal is to ensure that all families have access to the school supplies necessary for their children's academic development.

As this is a social program, there are certain criteria to qualify for aid. Therefore, please see below to see if you are eligible to participate in this social program.

Criteria for obtaining help with school supplies

As already mentioned, the social program aims to serve low-income families, so there are participation criteria.

There are three criteria for participation, look at each one now:

1 – Single Registry of Social Programs (CadÚnico)

The single registry is the most effective way for the State to monitor and assist low-income families in Brazil.

Like low-income families, those in vulnerable situations must also register with CADúnico.

It is true that vulnerable families, in most cases, find themselves in this situation due to low family budgets.

Regardless of how or why, the family must register with CadÚnico to receive specialized help and support from the State.

2 – Enrollment in public schools

The second criterion is the need for the student to be enrolled in a public school.

This criterion is justified because the majority of low-income students, without the minimum means to acquire school supplies, are in public schools.

Low-income students and private school scholarship recipients may be eligible for the benefit. However, it is more difficult to access the benefit.

Therefore, it is more assertive that the student is in a public school to obtain the benefit. In addition to also receiving part of the materials from the school itself.

      3 – Family income criteria

The last criterion is family income. This criterion will identify low-income families, so that those most in need can receive assistance.

In Brazil, a low-income family is identified when its per capita income is less than half the minimum wage or when its total family income is less than three minimum wages.

However, it is important to note that these income criteria may vary by state, so the criteria are more equitable.

Therefore, having a family income within the established criteria is necessary for the student to have access to the benefit.

        CadUnique

I meet all the criteria. What now? Where do I apply for social benefits?

If you and your family meet all the criteria of the Brazilian Social Assistance Program for the Purchase of School Supplies, it's time to apply.

To apply, you can go to the CRAS in your city or town centre. This is where you will receive guidance and assistance in your difficulties.

CRAS stands for (Centre for Social Assistance Reference). It is through CRAS that the State provides care and shelter to families.

So, if you need help and rights, CRAS is the place to welcome, guide and assist you.

        Taking advantage of assistance

Now that you know the criteria and where to seek assistance, you can assert your right and use the assistance to purchase school supplies.

To ensure that the student has all the necessary materials for the year, use the Brazilian Social Assistance Program for the Purchase of School Supplies.
